Former East Fairmont state champion wrestler Hunter Wood said it best, “Summer work makes winter champions.”
Though sayings are sometimes called “cliches,” or “motivators,” Wood’s motto is truth. Both he and Mason Bailey, both wrestlers took hard work and turned the work into state championships.
Wood, in 2008, won the Class AAA state title in the 112-pound division, while Bailey snatched two Class AAA state championships in 2008 and 2009.
Now that the pair have graduated from college, they are back in Fairmont and ready to give back to the community.
During the annual Circle of Honor wrestling camp, both Wood and Bailey will serve as camp counselors, while instructing children from the ages of 6 all the way up to high school.
