Punt-return touchdown ignites Polar Bears in win: PHOTOS

FAIRMONT — Fairmont Senior was looking for a spark to break its scoreless tie with Robert C. Byrd and start the season off right.

Somebody. Anybody. Malik Boddy?

The 5-foot-7 sophomore returned a punt 65 yards for a touchdown and another 40 yards to set up Fairmont Senior’s second score. It helped propel Fairmont Senior to a 28-7 victory over Robert C. Byrd at East-West stadium Friday.

“I just knew if I could get to the sideline I could score,” Boddy said. “Everybody is just looking for that one spark, and I was trying to be that man today.”
