Fairmont State’s Chelsea Cobb was named the Daktronics Atlantic Region Player of the Year and outfielder Holly Frampton was a first team all-region selection. Freshman Courtney Iacobacci was a second team all-region selection.
The team is voted on by the members of D2SIDA, NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors Association.
Cobb, a native of Dunbar, posted a 24-7 record with a 1.72 ERA to help lead the Falcons to a 37-12 record and its first-ever regular season conference championship. She pitched 28 complete games with 11 shutouts and struck out 185 batters on the year.
Cobb leaves Fairmont State owning nearly every single-season and career record and was also named the 2013 WVIAC Pitcher of the Year.
Frampton, a native of Corning, N.Y., batted .411 and set a new single-season record with 18 home runs. The WVIAC Player of Year slugged .879 with 49 RBIs and scored 41 runs. She committed no errors playing in left field for the Falcons.
Iacobacci, a native of Stow, Ohio, led Fairmont State with a .420 batting average and tied a school record with 68 hits. She stole 16 bases and scored 44 runs. Iacobacci was a first team all-conference selection and the WVIAC Freshman of the Year. She was exceptional in center field with no errors and four assists.
