Carpenter, Bees team up for clinic

Event set for 2 p.m. today at EFHS

FAIRMONT — If you ever wanted to get up close and personal with a Major League Baseball player, today is your lucky day.

The best part? Don’t have to leave Marion County.

That’s because David Carpenter, an East Fairmont graduate and current Atlanta Braves relief pitcher, will join Bees’ head baseball coach Rob Barrett for a coach and player clinic from 2-4 p.m. today at East Fairmont High School.

The clinic, in its first year, is $25 for adults, but it’s not necessary to be an area coach to attend. College and high school students can take part for $10 apiece, and the event is free for kids.

Needless to say, Barrett can’t wait to get things started this afternoon.
