A Michael is back prowling the mats at North Marion.
It’s not former Husky and Mannington wrestling coaching legend Roy Michael, but instead his son Jay, who before the season replaced Daran Hays as head coach Dave Tennant’s top assistant.
“Jay moved home and Daran left to focus on football. I knew Jay was back in town and was helping (Mannington) Middle School last year, so I called and asked him if he’d be interested,” Tennant said.
Michael ended up taking the job and provided the Huskies with a new voice — one who’s greatest strength lies in the technical aspect of the sport.
“He’s very dedicated,” Tennant said. “He’s very good with the kids and very good in the (wrestling) room. He’s a technician like no other.”
