With the conference taking up half of the Class AA boys’ basketball tournament pool, the 2012-2013 season was a uniquely special one for the Big 10.
The same goes for Marion County teams, too.
North Marion and Fairmont Senior both reached states, the Polar Bears getting all the way to the title game last Saturday, while East Fairmont made some positive strides in a losing season.
And now, each have been rewarded as the Big 10 recently released its all-conference boys’ teams.
Three county players made the first team in Fairmont Senior senior Travon Horton and junior Jarin Hilson, along with North Marion senior Cameron Wilson.
A pair of area seniors, North Marion’s Matt Cain and East Fairmont’s John Bowman, made the all-Big 10 second team.
Lewis County junior center John Riley was named the league’s player of the year, while Preston’s Barry Sanders was recognized as the top coach after leading the Knights to a 12-0 record in conference.
