A first for everything in the Big 10

FAIRMONT — When the final seconds ticked off the clocks around the Big 10 this week, there were a couple of firsts in the conference.

North Marion snapped its winless skid and picked up its first win of the season by defeating rival East Fairmont.

The Huskies continue their dominance of the Bees at home, where East has only won once.

That leaves only Liberty and Grafton still seeking their first victory.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Fairmont Senior's hopes of an undefeated season were dashed by a dominating performance from the Bridgeport Indians.

It was from that game that this week's standout performance comes.

The Indians’ Anthony Bonamico rushed for 275 yards and three scores in leading the Indians to victory.

Other performances of note were turned in by North Marion’s Austin Stanley with 193 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns and East Fairmont’s Scotty Shroyer, who hauled in 11 passes for 144 yards and a TD.

Bonamico is the conference’s leading rusher, quickly approaching 1,000 yards. He is sitting at 955 yards on 90 carries after last week's games.

Lincoln’s Ty Seibel is in second with 765 yards.

Fairmont Senior’s Noah Harmon was finally slowed down by Bridgeport and sits in third with 740 yards, but is still averaging over 13 yards per run.

Preston’s Josiah Nuse (627) and Philip Barbour’s Dylan Johnson (595) round out the Top 5.

North Marion is led by Ryan Elliott with 455 yards on the season, and East Fairmont is paced by Shroyer with 206 yards.

Lincoln’s Jarrod Kellar continues to lead the Big 10 in passing.

The Cougars’ signal-caller now has 1,358 yard on 76-of-138 passing.

Fairmont Senior’s Austin Norman is in second place, also closing in on the 1,000-yard plateau.

Norman has 982 yards and has completed 48 of his 80 passes. He's also tossed a conference-high 11 touchdown passes.

Preston’s Scott Stone (864), East Fairmont’s Jake Delaney (749) and Grafton’s Cole Collins (632) follow.

North Marion’s leader is Kyle Elliott with 126 yards.
