The scoreboard at East-West Stadium remained off. Likewise, there were no downs. No measurements. And no winner.
All of it — along with the cheerleaders, the bands, the Friday night lights and rest of the pageantry that accompanies high school football season — is less than two weeks away.
But at least Saturday afternoon’s scrimmage between East Fairmont and Lewis County was football.
And for East Fairmont coach Bill Haddox, it was a first look at his Bees in live competition.
Lewis County “beat” East Fairmont, at least according to the parents and coaches who kept count on their fingers. The Minutemen scored five touchdowns to East Fairmont’s one, as the teams took turns running about 10 plays at a time.
