FAIRMONT — With the winter break in full effect for most schools — here and all over the country — now seems as good a time as any for an update on local college athletes playing outside Marion County.

Here’s a quick look at how a few have fared in 2012-13:

• Mason Bailey, Navy — The former East Fairmont wrestler, a two-time state champ with the Bees and a Dutton Award winner, is seeing his collegiate career come to a close at Navy.

Bailey, wrestling at 185 pounds, is 17-6 in his senior season with the Midshipmen. Nine of those wins have come by decision and he’s 1-4 against ranked opponents.

In three seasons at Navy, he has a career record of 61-37.

• Hunter Wood, Army — Another former EFHS wrestling standout and a past state champ himself, Wood is a sophomore in his first year as a varsity member of the Black Knights.
