Chris Petrucci and Brennan Loudermill each hit home runs, helping the Fringe 10-11 Little League all-stars upend Bridgeport, 4-0, in the opening round of the state tournament at Huntington Friday.
Pretrucci got the team on the board in an instant, homering on the first pitch he saw for a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Fringe added a second run after Keegun McCullough drew a walk and was replaced by pinch runner Ryan Joliffe, who scored on three wild pitches.
Fringe closed the scoring in the second when Hunter Six singled and came home on Loudermill’s blast, a two-run shot well beyond the fence in center field.
Petrucci also picked up the victory on the mound, scattering four hits and striking out five in 5.1 innings. Kurt Latocha recorded the game’s final two outs with a groundout and strikeout.
Latocha, McCullough and Matt Hawkins added hits for Fringe.
Fringe continues pool play at 3:15 p.m. today against Ceredo Kenova.
