Times West Virginian
Ninety-plus years and still going strong.
When it comes to East vs. West and the state’s longest prep football rivalry, tradition never dies.
Nor do the feelings that burn inside locals, whether you’re from Rivesville, downtown or across the bridge somewhere on the East side.
On this fall Friday night, high school friends, kids who have played against or with each for years, become enemies. In some cases, families are split in half. Even current coaches are forced to pick a side — one in the area recently admitted to yours truly that even though he’s a current Bee coach in a sport other than football, he’ll be backing his alma mater Bears come 7:30 tonight.
