Kesling provides pop to the Polar Bear offense

FAIRMONT — Getting a good pitch is the key to being a successful hitter.

Getting a pitch where you can drive, well now, you’re just talking crazy.

But, for Fairmont Senior’s clean-up hitter, Johnny Kesling, he approaches each at-bat with a mentality to kill the baseball.

“I look at it as a new at-bat. I take every at-bat seriously — whether it has to be clutch or whether it’s just a regular at-bat without anyone on,” Kesling said. “I go up to the at-bat and I’m looking for my pitch to hit. I only look to hit a strike, and then, I really try to get my pitch so I don’t go two strikes in.”

The reason Kesling doesn't want to get two strikes on him is the fact that he will have to hit the pitcher’s pitch.
