Since losing to Wheeling Park on Dec. 21, the North Marion Lady Huskies have been on a tear, winning each game they’ve played. And a big part of that success has been the consistency of senior forward Anna Marie Moscufo.
Moscufo, a 6-foot senior, has been around the program long enough to know what head coach Mike Parrish expects on the court, and that’s hustle and hard work.
Moscufo provided both this week as North Marion downed two opponents that sit just outside the top 10 in their respected classes.
This past week, the Huskies traveled to Bridgeport to take on the defending AA state champions. It was the Huskies, led by Moscufo, who came out on top, 63-50.
Moscufo came away with a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead the way.
She stepped up again for the Huskies on Saturday when she led her team over Wheeling Park at home, 63-59.
With the team’s leading scorer battling illness, Moscufo came through for her team. Again, she had a double-double, this time scoring 10 points to go with her 10 rebounds.
North Marion is now 9-2 overall and 2-1 in the Big 10 after their two wins this week, thanks in large part to Moscufo.
For her consistently strong play, Moscufo is this week’s Times West Virginian high school player of the week.
