East Fairmont’s football team finally found a way to overcome a costly mistake.
The Bees saw their lead over Philip Barbour disappear late in the fourth quarter when the Colts scored a touchdown to pull within 13-9, and East promptly fumbled on its very next play and Andre Johnson returned it 25 yards for a 15-13 PB lead.
But this time the Bees didn’t give up.
East marched on a 16-play drive that culminated in a Garrett Onderko 4-yard touchdown run with just 15 seconds left in the game as the Bees defeated Philip Barbour, 21-15, Friday night.
“Our scoring drive, we had to go the length of the field and our kids did it,” said East Fairmont head coach Bill Haddox. “Our quarterback (Jake Delaney) did really well. He did a good job of hanging in there. He made a really nice run that got us a first down and then we capitalized after that run from Onderko.”
