FAIRMONT — Polar Bear beat-down.

Fairmont Senior’s baseball team powered past Grafton in a home opener win on Friday, 10-0, in five innings.

In the win, FSHS was led by its dual threat on the mound in seniors Andrew Strand and Fletcher DeVaul.

Both pitchers combined for ten strikeouts in five innings, Strand with six and DeVaul with four.

“I was relying on my fastballs and changeups across,” Strand said. “Kids were up on their front foot and coach was calling them in the dugout — he really knew what he was doing — he saw a kid on his front foot, so we threw a changeup. Fastball on the outside was commanding, that was pretty much my leading pitch today.”
