East’s Haddox tabbed as North-South coach

— East Fairmont’s football coach Bill Haddox was named the head coach of the North Bears for the West Virginia Athletic Coaches Association’s WCHS-TV/FOX-11 North-South Football Classic earlier this week.

Haddox has coached before at the game as an assistant but will now coach for the first time as the head coach of the team and said that he’s already started to put his staff together.

“It’s a big difference being the guy in charge than being the assistant. As the assistant you’re just in charge of one thing,” Haddox said. “But that’s how you learn (as a coach.)”

Now that he’s been named the “top guy”, as he put it, he’s looking forward to having a good experience.

“I think it’ll be fun,” he said. “It’s one of those things you’ll enjoy doing.”

Haddox’s counter-part will be Lewis McClung of Greenbrier West’s football team.

The game will be played on June 21 at the University of Charleston Field/Laidley Field in Charleston.
