FSHS girls’ lacrosse takes down GCC

GREENSBURG, Pa. — Fairmont Senior girls’ lacrosse team picked up another win Wednesday night, beating Greensburg Central Catholic (Pa.), 17-10.

The score, though, was closer than the game actually was, said Fairmont Senior coach Jon Cain.

“The score wasn’t indicative of the game at all,” he said. “We played a lot of young girls and they scored a couple of late goals on us.”

Overall, though, the Lady Polar Bears continued their onslaught and had seven girls score goals on the night.

Maddi Craig led the way this time, scoring seven of the team’s 17 goals. Gabi Mascaro netted three and Sarah Topardo and Sofia Sansalone each scored twice. Sansalone also had an assist.

“The girls really moved the ball around well,” Cain said. “Offensively, we were really patient.”

Also adding scores on the night were Adrianna Constable with one goal and four assists, Reina Edwards with one goal and Sarah Wilt with one goal.

While the offense lit up the scoreboard once again, the story of the game was Fairmont Senior’s defense.

“Maddie Stevenski has been a true stalwart in the middle,” Cain noted. “Our defense really stepped up tonight.”

The victory moves Fairmont Senior to 5-1 on the season.

The Lady Polar Bears will play their third game in as many nights as they’ll host George Washington tonight at 8 p.m.
