COLUMN: Interested to see Bears in '13

FAIRMONT — While spring is in the air and baseballs are surely hitting parked cars somewhere, yours truly is thinking football at the moment.

Part of that is because of this month’s NFL draft, where the Pittsburgh Steelers have a laundry list of pressing needs and West Virginia University has two no doubt first-round picks in Geno Smith and Tavon Austin.

Another part of it has to do with the upcoming college spring games, where WVU is looking to fill major holes and Fairmont State debuts a new coach in Farmington native Jason Woodman.

That excitement even trickles down to the high school ranks, as J.L. Abbott is back on the Polar Bear sidelines for the first time since 2009.
