PLEASANT VALLEY —
If nothing else. East Fairmont’s softball team knew it had to play its absolute best to hang with Ritchie County during Saturday’s home doubleheader.
The Rebels, after all, made last year’s state title game and were ranked No. 4 in Class AA to open the 2013 campaign. But unfortunately for the Bees, it didn’t happen, as Ritchie rolled to a 14-0, five-inning win. East topped Big 10 rival Lincoln, 10-0 in six innings, during the first game of the weekend twinbill.
“It wasn’t good, but the score wasn’t indicative of the game,” East coach John Postlewait said of Ritchie County, which is in the Bees’ region after the move to double-A. “We were in it for a while.”
