Bridgeport deals FSHS first loss

BRIDGEPORT — Bridgeport (5-1) handed Fairmont Senior (4-1) its first loss of the season Friday night at Wayne Jamison Field, 37-14.

Indians’ running back Anthony Bonamico rushed for three touchdowns and 275 yards, the most yards on the ground for a Bridgeport player since at least 1997.

Bridgeport built a 21-0 halftime lead, went up 28-0 early in the third quarter and coasted the rest of the way.

In total, Bridgeport’s ball-control offense rushed the ball 40 of its 43 plays for 328 yards in the lopsided victory.

Fairmont Senior quarterback Austin Norman  threw for 140 yards and touchdown passes of 23 yards to Neil Scherich and 21 yards to Nick Davisson.

Fairmont Senior travels to Frankfort next Friday.
