Trowbridge excels, advances as only North girls’ runner

FAIRMONT — Taylor Trowbridge is having a top-notch season by her own standards.

The freshman runner from North Marion keeps setting personal goals, and she keeps achieving them.

Before each race, Trowbridge sets a goal for herself.

Coming into the Big 10 Championship, she wanted to get top 10 and improve her overall time. After the race, she said she did just that.

The next goal on her list was to finish in the top 10 at regionals. After an eighth-place finish this past Thursday, she once again achieved her goal.

Trowbridge took home an eighth-place finish in the race as she logged a time of 21:10 in the regional meet at Mineral Wells to qualify for states.

While other Marion County teams punched their ticket as a team, Trowbridge is the lone runner from North Marion to advance to the state meet Saturday at Cabell Midland.

Coming into the season, Trowbridge’s ultimate goal was to reach the state meet and now she will have a chance to improve on an even bigger personal goal.

For reaching the next step in her journey, Trowbridge is this week’s Times West Virginian high school player of the week.
