Goldstrom’s big night keys Preston; others keep pace

FAIRMONT — There’s three weeks left in the regular season for the members of the Big 10 Conference, and four teams are in position to make the playoffs and a couple more sit on the bubble.

Elkins, Bridgeport and Robert C. Byrd are well on their way of making the field of 16, and after Lewis County’s win over Class AAA Oak Hill the Minutemen will more than likely join the party.

Preston’s Cory Goldstrom came up with the week’s big performance.

The Knights’ senior running back carried the load for Preston in a 20-19 Homecoming win over East Fairmont.

Goldstrom ran 43 times for 194 yards and a touchdown. But perhaps his biggest play was a two-point conversion run in the fourth quarter which lifted Preston to the win.
