A true legend is set for retirement.
North Marion’s cross country coach, Larry Mason, has announced his retirement after an extensive career that spans 35 years.
Mason, who retired from teaching math at North Marion a few years ago, began his career as North’s cross country coach in 1983 after coaching a couple seasons of track at Monongah.
Mason has coached many state competitors, a few college runners and even one All-American.
“I’m always looking for ways to improve myself and improve as a person, and I think like-minded kids want to hang around me,” said Mason. “We were always trying new ways to motivate kids to go just a little bit further than they knew they could.”
