Fairmont Senior boys swim to third

The Fairmont Senior boys swim team took third out of fifteen teams at the Parkersburg Invitational Saturday.

Taylor Cambell swam to second in the 100 yard freestyle and third in the 50 yard freestyle. Isaac Kinder finished fourth in the 100-yard freestyle and seventh in the 200-yard freestyle. Jeremy Shepherd finished fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke and eighth in the 500-yard freestyle.

Ben Stewart took sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke and ninth in the 500-yard freestyle.

Brandon Ralston finished fifth in the 100-yard backstroke and eighth in the 100-yard fly.

Ayden Hansen placed sixth in the 100-yard fly. And David Cremeans took seventh in the 500-yard freestyle.

The Polar Bears also took second in the medley relay with Ralston, Taylor, Hansen and Shepherd swimming. A team with Cambell, Stewart, Shepherd and Kinder placed third in the 200-yard freestyle relay. And Kinder, Stewart, Taylor and Ralston placed fourth in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

 For the girls, Hannah Booth placed fifth in the 100-yard fly and 11th in the 500-yard freestyle. Claire Craig took ninth in the 200-yard individual medley. Caitlyn Westfall took 11th in the 200-yard freestyle and 13th in the 100-yard freestyle.

Sydney Woody earned 11th in the 100-yard freestyle. And Ashley Bright took 12th in the 100-yard backstroke.

    The bases were loaded. There were no outs. And by a swing of bad luck a fly ball was dropped in the outfield as two runs came across to score, propelling the Rebels to a 5-4 win over No. 9 North Marion in the final game of the Diamond Dawg Tournament at North Marion High School Saturday.

    A day after an 11-0 mercy-rule victory at Philip Barbour, the North Marion Huskies were at it again.
    Chelsi Latocha threw three no-hit innings, Shelby King drove in five runs in the first inning and the Huskies rolled to a 20-0 victory over the winless Fairmont Senior Polar Bears in the Diamond Dawg Tournament at North Marion High School.

    If the Bees’ pitcher tossed a no-hitter, Carpenter promised to give her $20.
    Well, it took four years, but it’s finally time for Postlewait’s great-uncle to pay up.
