The secret is out. East Fairmont has a new starting quarterback.
His name? Jake Delaney — a 6-foot-1 gun slinger, who hopes to carry East Fairmont to a winning season.
“I don’t want to go 3-7 like the past two years,” Delaney said. “I want to have a winning record and go to the playoffs.”
Delaney jokingly adds, “I really need to go to the playoffs, because when my brother went here, they went to the playoffs (in 2007). So, I have to have something to brag about to my brother.”
Because of the blood lines that run through the Delaney family, it has created friendly competition.
His dad (Michael) was a star linebacker/quarterback at Hundred High School and later went on to play linebacker at Fairmont State University.
This competition has led to numerous drills that push Delaney.
