Rivalry win: PHOTOS

Polar Bear wrestling runs past North, 51-24

MANNINGTON — Wednesday evening, Fairmont Senior wrestled it’s “A” game versus county rival North Marion.

“Tonight we wrestled a little flat, and that means that we weren’t as aggressive as we needed to be,” North Marion’s head coach Dave Tennant stated. “We have to be up for the cross-county rival, and pride has to set in there. No matter how tired or how hurt you are, pride should take over. They had it tonight and we didn’t.”

The Polar Bears rocketed a 51-24 victory; however, the rout didn’t begin early.

FSHS began the match with two quick victories when 106-pounder Christopher Carvillano pinned Joseph Efaw and 113-pounder Colin Masters pinned Evan Gaines.

Following the back-to-back pins from FSHS is where North started to roll.
