Clutch hitting helps surge Fairmont past opponents

FAIRMONT — When looking up the term statistics in the Webster’s Dictionary, you’ll find, “The numerical facts or data themselves.”

Statistics equal facts: Something that is proven, not fictional. Statistically proven in baseball, if a team loses the first game of a series, then its chances of advancing falls dramatically.

Overcoming the baseball gurus on statistics is Fairmont 10-11 All-Stars.

Just last week, the stars went against powerful Taylor County.

Against Taylor County, Fairmont was outhit while losing 10-8 against the highly touted team.

Once the loss occurred, Fairmont was angered. In fact, the players weren’t just angered; they were something more. They were enraged with fury; they were embarrassed that they didn’t provide the offense that they’ve been know to showcase in previous games.
