ELKINS — Fairmont Senior’s baseball team had all nine of its starters score a run en route to a 16-7 victory over Elkins on the road, giving coach Steve Naternicola his 500th career win.

Six Polar Bear starters had RBI, led by Austin Norman who had four RBI on a 2-for-4 night. Norman also had two doubles.

Others making the stat sheet for the Polar Bears was Ryan Ricer who went 2-for-3 and scored four runs, Gage Hannah who scored two runs and had an RBI, Johnny Keesling who went 3-for-5 and drove in one, Jayce Riley who went 1-for-5 with 2 RBI, Damon Davis who went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI and scored a run, Austin Kuhn who went 1-for-3 with a run scored and Trae Hall who scored a run.

Bailey Mohr picked up the win on the mound, pitching 5.1 innings, allowing seven runs (one earned) while walking only four and striking out six. He also went 1-for-3 and drove in a run at the plate.

Norman came in in relief to close the game out, facing just five batters and striking out three. He allowed no hits, no walks and no runs.

Fairmont Senior moves to 3-0 on the year and will be back in action today as it hosts University.

East’s team needed extra innings to remain undefeated on the season, but won, 5-4, in the eighth at home against Grafton.

Jacob Bolander drove in the winning run, scoring EJ Trickett from second base for the win.

Tyler Weiss and Bolander provided quality at-bats all night for the Bees, coach Joe Price noted.

Freshman David McQuain started the game and pitched the first four innings before giving way to James Bolander, who eventually picked up the win for the Bees.

Price says the Bees are still taking everything “day by day”.

They’ll look to continue that on Thursday when they play at Elkins.
