It was a split for North Marion on Friday’s first day of the school’s Diamond Dawg softball event — and plenty good enough.
Among the goals of the annual double-elimination tournament is to play the second day, which is exactly what the Huskies accomplished after dropping a 7-5 decision to Big 10 foe Lincoln in the morning and following it up with an 18-0, three-inning romp over Pocahontas County in the afternoon.
In the second game, the Huskies had little trouble.
They scored 11 first-inning runs, keyed by a Paige Efaw double, and did the rest by taking advantage of a bunch of Pocahontas walks and passed balls.
