North Marion powers past Buckhannon-Upshur

North Marion spoiled Buckhannon-Upshur’s senior night Monday by beating the Bucs, 55-45.

The Huskies (10-10) jumped ahead 17-12 in the first quarter and survived a small run from B-U in the second quarter to take a 27-25 lead into the half.

Then in the third, the Huskies erupted on a 15-4 run and hung on in the fourth to pick up the win.

Chase Banker led the team with 21 points. Cody Opron had 14. Micah Parrish (six), Quintin Markley (four), Cole Richards (three), Devin Ayersman (three) and Kurt Rogers (two) also scored in the win.

“We shared the ball a lot better than we have in the last couple games,” said North Marion assistant coach Justin Balwanz. “I thought we did a good job of being patient and sharing the ball. It was a good team win.”

The Huskies will travel to Robert C. Byrd Wednesday with the hopes of upsetting Class AA’s top-ranked team.
