Huskies slip past Grafton
North Marion’s softball team bounced back from a recent loss with an 8-5 home win over Big 10 foe Grafton on Tuesday.
The Huskies had three hits as a team — Taylor Wells doubled, while Shelby King and Morgan Clyde each added singles — and scored the majority of their runs on Bearcats errors and walks.
“They made a few mistakes and we took advantage,” North coach Brad Harker said of his squad, which was down 2-0 to start but responded with four runs apiece in both the third and fourth innings.
Chelsi Latocha got the win in the circle to help North improve to 9-4. She went 6.1 innings, giving up four hits while walking five and striking out five. Danielle Fluharty also pitched, retiring the game’s final two batters on strikeouts.
