East blown out by Bridgeport, 65-21

FAIRMONT — Bridgeport’s high-powered offense, bolstered by a number of players, was just too much for East Fairmont (1-3) to handle as the Bees were overcome by a score of 65-21 Friday at East-West Stadium.

East Fairmont threw an interception on its first drive of the game, and it was all downhill from there.

Bridgeport’s Anthony Bonamico, who only played the first half, ran the ball just 11 times for 171 yards and two scores.

Bridgeport would go up 14-0 before the Bees got onto the scoreboard, but a 76-yard bomb from Jake Delaney to Myles Johnson would get the crowd excited and the Bees would cut the deficit in half.

The very next offensive play for Bridgeport would quiet the Bees’ home crowd, though, as A.C. Caldera chucked the ball 60 yards downfield to Dante Bonamico for the score.

The Indians would then coast to a 45-7 lead at the half after a slew of touchdowns before Delaney found Ronnie Mills in the end zone just before the half to make it 45-14.

Coming out, the Bees recovered an onside kick and seemed to have momentum, but their drive would stall.

This gave way to Bridgeport, who put their second team into the ball game.

East still showed some fight in the beginning of the fourth quarter after a two quick fumbles, one by each team. Scotty Shroyer then took a handoff 22 yards for the score to make it 45-21.

Bridgeport would add some late scores, including an interception return for a touchdown, and the Bees would not be able to bounce back.

The Bees fall to 1-3 on the season and will play North Marion on the road next Friday night.
