FSHS overcomes Grafton on the road

Times West Virginian

— After a sluggish first half ended in a 25-21 lead for Grafton, Fairmont Senior came back to overcome the Bearcats, 58-53 on the road. Darhius Nunn and Tavon Horton combined for 43 points to lead the Polar Bears to victory.

When the third quarter kicked off, Fairmont Senior picked it up. The Polar Bears outscored Grafton, 22-12, to take a 43-37 lead.

Making 7-of-9 free throws down the stretch would hold off a Grafton comeback and propel Fairmont Senior to a win.

Horton led the way with 25 points while Nunn had 18, 16 of which came in the second half.

The Polar Bears move to 11-9 on the year and will host the winner of the Oak Glen/Weir game on Tuesday at 7 p.m. to kick off the sectional tournament.
