CLARKSBURG — The East Fairmont football team sang the call-and-response tune for most of Friday night’s game until it was time for the fat lady to sing in the Bees’ 28-21 overtime victory.
The Bees and the Liberty Mountaineers battled back and forth for the first half. After East Fairmont fumbled on its first drive, the two teams seemed to mirror each other for the entire first half.
Each team punted on their next two possessions before Liberty finally struck first blood. Moving down the field, Liberty called a timeout to think things over on the third drive of the game. Coming out of the timeout, the Mountaineers handed the ball off to fullback Logan Robey, who rumbled forward for a 41-yard gain. Once the Mountaineers had a first-and-goal, they stacked the backfield with three backs and powered it in with Robey for the game’s first score.
