FAIRMONT — North Marion softball tamed the Polar Bears — again.

For the second time this season, the Huskies had their way with Fairmont Senior, rolling to a 22-0, three-inning rout on Thursday in Rivesville.

“We’re just trying to do what we do,” North coach Brad Harker said. “Fairmont Senior didn’t make too many mistakes and cut down on the errors compared to the last game. They’ve improved.”

In two games versus FSHS this year, North has outscored its county rival, 49-0.

Chelsi Latocha faced nine batters for the Huskies over her three innings, striking out two, and allowed just one hit. The junior standout also went 3 for 3 with a walk at the plate.

Danielle Fluharty added three hits for North, while Paige Efaw and Mariah Sides had two apiece. Amanda Sigley, Rachel Wiley and Cheyanne Steen each added hits for the Huskies.

North, tied for the Big 10 conference lead with Lincoln, also drew 11 walks to improve to 22-11 on the year.

Alexis Richardson singled for the Polar Bears’ lone hit.

Bees roll past Knights

East Fairmont’s softball team cruised to an 8-1 win at Preston on Thursday.

Tori Postlewait threw a gem in the circle to lead the Bees. She fanned a career-best 12 batters in a complete game win, while allowing an unearned run on three hits and walking one.

“She had a really good day,” East coach John Postlewait said. “All her pitches were working and she was able to mix things up.”

The Bees had five hits on the day and scored most of their runs via Knights miscues.

Kayla Summers led the way on offense, going 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs.

Hannah Ferrell was 1 for 3 and scored two runs; Tori Postlewait was 1 for 4 and scored twice; Jasmin Johnson added a double and an RBI; and Mikayla Moore walked twice and scored two runs.

East (20-10) closes out the regular season Saturday at Bridgeport.

Grant Holbert, Logan Orton, Michael Buonaiuto and Taylor Campbell swept singles play.

In doubles, Holbert and Orton teamed for a win, as did Buonaiuto and Campbell and Trevor DeVaul and Trey Giorcelli.
