Harvath preaches teamwork to young East soccer team

FAIRMONT — Team effort wins championships — that’s the motto of East Fairmont and its girls soccer team.

Just last year, the Bees graduated seven seniors, including their dynamic duo in Nicole Licata and Kristin Busund. Also leaving the squad was one of the best goalies in the state in Cheyann McQuain.

But that doesn’t matter to the Bees. The past is the past. They’re gone.

“I’m not looking to do that this year,” said East Fairmont’s head coach Mark Harvath about the Licata-Busund duo. “I want more team play. It got to a little bit last year down the stretch where it became a little bit of relying too much on two people. I don’t want to do that. I want to perform and score and deliver anywhere on the field. I really don’t want to get into that this year.”
