FAIRMONT — Fairmont Senior baseball unleashed the boom as it powered past Pendleton County in a Saturday doubleheader at Mary Lou Retton Park, winning game one 11-2 and 4-1 in the second contest.

During the first game, the sunshine was gleaming onto the field and the Polar Bears were getting settled in on the offensive side of the ball.

FSHS combined for 12 hits — 12 of 28 hitting — resulting in a team batting average of .428.

“We hit the ball pretty well in the first game,” Fairmont Senior’s head coach Steve Naternicola said. “Offensively, we had a couple of clutch hits and tried to make things happen. We were able to run that first game off their catcher.”

The hit parade was singled around both Austin Norman and Brandon Plivelich, who had three hits apiece in the opener.
