COLUMN: FSHS tries to build off a forfeit

FAIRMONT — Momentum swings back in Fairmont Senior’s favor.

The Polar Bears are back in the playoff hunt this week due to the forfeit of Elkins’ wins this season.

During week five, the Polar Bears were the fifth victim for an Elkins team that would eventually improve to 5-0.

Even though Elkins was winning all those games, it has been ruled that an ineligible player participated, forcing the Tigers to forfeit all their wins.

With the game being awarded back to FSHS, the Polar Bears only have two more goals to accomplish this season — to win against both Bridgeport and East Fairmont.

“The forfeit win is one of those things that happens,” said Fairmont Senior head coach Jared Mileto.
