Highlight reel plays prevalent in Week 2

FAIRMONT — On Thursday night, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning had a game for the ages when he fired a record-tying seven touchdown passes — seven! — in the season opener against Baltimore.

Not to be upstaged, Marion County athletes turned in equally eye-popping performances in Week 2 of the high school season, starting with Fairmont Senior wide receiver Nick Davisson.

The 5-foot-9, 140-pound sophomore is quickly becoming one of quarterback Austin Norman’s favorite targets. He proved it Friday against North Marion by catching a pair of touchdown passes.

The one from 23 yards out was impressive, yes, but the second one — a 99-yard catch and run — was historic.
