Vic Seccuro has never been one to take stock in moral victories, but this year is different.
His North Marion baseball team was gutted by graduation, lost a popular assistant coach in Steve Harbert and the aftershocks have been felt all season, as the Huskies sat at 2-17 heading into Friday.
So when North played inspired ball against state-ranked Fairmont Senior at Mary Lou Retton Park, all Seccuro could do was smile a little, even if it meant another loss, 5-2.
“We played really well,” the long-time coach said. “If we played like this all year, we’ve got 12-15 wins by now. Their effort was there, they executed, did some things they were supposed to do at the plate.”
