High school football 23 days away

Local teams eager for start of season

FAIRMONT — Strap on your shoulder pads and tighten your helmet because football season is just 23 days away.

On Monday, Fairmont Senior, East Fairmont and North Marion hit the practice field with the same goal — winning the Big 10 Conference and making a run in the Class AA state playoffs.

Though it’s been about a month since the three-week grace period in June, all three schools are looking to recap what they learned in June and continue to get better.

“We just tried to pick up where we left off in June,” Fairmont Senior head coach JL Abbott said. “Really, with it being just helmets, we’re just worried about the conditioning. But honestly, their conditioning has impressed us so far.”
