FAIRMONT — The East Fairmont girls’ soccer team may have more lowerclassmen on the field than upperclassmen, but that didn’t make a difference Monday night.

During Monday’s 3-0 win over Tyler Consolidated, freshman Haleigh McDougal scored two goals for the Bees in the first half.

Senior Savanah Christy added another goal in the second half with an assist from Breana Wright.

“I started a lot of freshmen and a couple sophomores, and they all played well,” head coach Mark Harvath said. “My upperclassmen were steady as always, and I count on them to be solid.”

Harvath said the upperclassmen on his team are doing what they are supposed to be doing — leading the team and helping younger players.

But there’s one freshman who has been surprising him on the field, and that’s goalkeeper Hannah Pride.

“She’s surprising me every day,” he said.

During Monday’s game at East-West Stadium, Pride stopped a penalty kick in the second half. That save was her only one of the night but led her to her first shutout as a high school goalie.
