FAIRMONT — North Marion hosted East Fairmont and Liberty at Green Hills Country Club on Tuesday, and every shot made a difference for the Bees as they defeated the Huskies by one stroke.

East Fairmont shot a 157 while North Marion had a 158. Liberty finished third with a 194.

East Fairmont’s head coach Bill Malone said all the golfers played really well in the nine-hole match Tuesday.

“With watching the first couple North golfers and when the scores started coming in, I really thought they were going to get us here today,” he said. “It got exciting at the end.”

North Marion’s Colton Holbert was medalist of the match, shooting a 36, just one over par. His teammates Dustin Fisher shot a 38, Cole Richards had a 41 and Matt Martin ended with a 43.

But it wasn’t enough to take over the Bees.

For East Fairmont, Brennon Vincent shot a team low of 37, Hayden Stewart shot a 38, Jacob Monell had a 39 and Bailey Frederick had a 43.

Like Malone said, every golfer played well, and the Bees’ Monell didn’t give up after being four over after two holes.
