North girls, East boys win

FAIRMONT — The thought of last season was still fresh in the minds of North Marion’s girls’ soccer team when they took the field Tuesday.

Last season, the Huskies defeated East Fairmont in the regular season. But in the playoffs, where it counted, the Huskies went down 2-0 and could never recover.

“All I remember is the locker room and saying goodbye to all the seniors,” McKenzy Fisher said of last season’s loss.

North Marion flipped the script Tuesday evening under the bright lights at Duvall-Rosier Field on the campus of Fairmont State University.

  • North Marion’s rally falls short

    North Marion had all the pieces in place for a thrilling come-from-behind victory Saturday afternoon.
    The four runs in the bottom of the seventh. The tying runner on third and the Huskies’ fastest player on second. Even the clear-blue sky on the mid-70s afternoon was the perfect stage for a comeback.
