Grizzlies drop Bees, 33-6

SUMMERSVILLE — The Nicholas County Grizzlies used their size and power to out-muscle East Fairmont, 33-6.

The Grizzlies used quarterback Tyler Sagraves in multiple ways to help in the victory. He threw the ball. He ran the ball. And he even caught the ball. Sagraves picked up 171 yards through the air on 18 of 28 passing, 48 yards on the ground on 11 carries, and caught a pass for 26 yards from punter Austin Hill.

East Fairmont (1-1) couldn’t seem to find a rhythm in any particular facet of the game. Both quarterbacks, Jake Delaney and Sam Swiger, saw action, with Swiger coming in at the end of the game for a passing attack.

Delaney completed four of 11 passes for 68 yards, while Swiger completed three of seven passes for 37 yards, including a 22-yard strike to receiver Miles Johnson in the fourth quarter.

The Bees scored their only touchdown right before the half after Fontain Nelson returned a kickoff 55 yards and the referees tacked on two unsportsmanlike penalties at the end of the play. Nelson ran it in on the next play from 13 yards out.

After the halftime score of 17-6, the Grizzlies would go on to score 16 second-half points and East Fairmont wouldn’t be able to bounce back.
