    When the final horn sounded at East-West Stadium Thursday, the George Washington girls’ lacrosse team sprinted down the field with their sticks raised high.
    One player jumped on the Patriot goalie, wrapping her arms and legs around the netminder. Meanwhile, the rest of the team engulfed the two with loud cheers.

  • East falls to Elkins on the road, 5-2

    On a rain-soaked day in Marion County, East Fairmont took to the road and managed to get a game played before rain began to fall in Elkins. Unfortunately for the Bees, they came home with a 5-2 loss, their first of the season.
    After falling in a quick 2-0 hole, Truman Weese took a pitch and sent it over the fence for a two-run shot to tie things up in the 4th inning.

  • Wright decides on FSU rather than D&E

    Nearly two months after signing her national letter of intent to play soccer with Davis & Elkins, East Fairmont’s Bre Wright has decided to take her talents elsewhere.
    The senior defender and her family announced that she will play at Fairmont State University for coach Patrick McGinnis.

    A neon yellow ball wasn’t the only thing bouncing back for Fairmont Senior Wednesday night as the Polar Bears bounced back from an off-day the day prior to beat North Marion, 6-1, in both the boys’ and girls’ circuits.
    On the boys’ side, Fairmont Senior (3-1) swept the singles competitions to take an early 4-0 lead and solidify the overall match going into doubles play.

  • FSHS girls’ lacrosse takes down GCC

    Fairmont Senior girls’ lacrosse team picked up another win Wednesday night, beating Greensburg Central Catholic (Pa.), 17-10.
    The score, though, was closer than the game actually was, said Fairmont Senior coach Jon Cain.

    Fairmont Senior’s boys’ lacrosse team found themselves in an unfamiliar position Tuesday night at East-West Stadium.
    A  quick start by a physical Morgantown team sent the Polar Bears home with a tough loss to the tune of 20-3. Across the county line, the girls’ team brought home a 15-3 win against the Lady Mohigans.

  • EFHS #12 HOME RUN -TS.jpg EFHS softball outlasts Grafton: PHOTOS

    East Fairmont’s softball team was able to outlast Grafton Tuesday night, picking up a 6-4 win in the process.
    Tori Postlewait continued to lead the way for the Lady Bees in the circle and at the dish.
    The senior dual-threat pitched all seven innings, giving up just four hits while striking out six batters. All four of Grafton’s runs were unearned.

  • FSHS routs Elkins; East wins in extras

    Fairmont Senior’s baseball team had all nine of its starters score a run en route to a 16-7 victory over Elkins on the road, giving coach Steve Naternicola his 500th career win.
    Six Polar Bear starters had RBI, led by Austin Norman who had four RBI on a 2-for-4 night. Norman also had two doubles.

  • East Fairmont boys race to second

    East Fairmont took advantage of a beautiful April Tuesday as the boys’ track team raced to a second place finish at the Joe Statler Challenge at Clay Battelle High School.
    The Bees scored 108 points, finishing second to Morgantown which scored 239 points. On the girls’ side, the Bees finished fourth.

  • East tennis topples Grafton; FSHS falls to Elkins

    East Fairmont’s boys’ and girls’ tennis teams were able to pick up wins at home Tuesday night against Grafton, the boys winning, 5-2, and the girls winning, 4-3.
    The wins came after the doubles from both East’s boys’ and girls’ side picked up solid victories.
