Labor Day Weekend is a feast of activities

By Debra Minor Wilson
Times West Virginian

FAIRMONT Remember way back in May, with the entire summer lounging lazily in front of you, promising yourself you’d make sure every weekend was packed with fun and excitement for you and the family?

Well, here it is the end of August, with the Labor Day Weekend ... the unofficial end to summer ... just days away.

But cheer up: There’s enough to do this weekend to keep everybody happy.

Like football? Treat yourself to the very best when the West Virginia University Mountaineers kick off their 2008-09 season against Villanova at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium in Morgantown.

High expectations abound for the Festival Bowl winners, with Pat White returning and new head coach Bill Stewart leading the pack.

But if football just isn’t for you, there is more than enough from which to choose.
