Louisville Area Mayors Provide Look at Governance

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — When three local Louisville mayors were asked by Kanawha County Commissioner Dave Hardy whether they thought they were better off in their towns now, the resounding answer was yes.



"For my town, yes," said Byron Chapman, mayor of Middletown, Ky. "The connection we have with metro is better than it was.



"I can pick up the phone, talk to Mayor Jerry (Abramson), he’ll get back with me, and with any of the heads of departments, it's the same way: They know me, they know us, and they want to work with us."



But Chapman also said he voted against consolidation because he didn't think he had enough information in the beginning.



"A lot of those questions, lot of those questions you can’t answer until it’s done, ... but when we got it, we wanted to make it work, so we came together."
