Early results from the state Senate race between Democratic incumbent Roman W. Prezioso Jr. and Republican challenger Casey Mayer indicate a likely victory for the longtime senator.
With 66 Marion County precincts reporting, Prezioso leads Mayer 10,236 to 4,906 votes. In percentages, that comes to a 67 to 32 percent lead.
Combined with votes from Monongalia County, also part of the state’s 13th Senatorial District, Prezioso leads by about 7,262 votes, 64 percent of the votes that have come in thus far. Mayer has 36 percent of the combined vote.
