Much of W.Va. under winter storm watch

CHARLESTON — The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch this weekend for more than half of West Virginia.

The weather service says the storm is expected to start Sunday afternoon as rain, becoming freezing rain and sleet and eventually snow. Six inches or more are possible in some northern counties and lesser amounts are likely elsewhere.

The watch is for at least 35 of the state’s 55 counties. Cities under the watch include Charleston, Clarksburg, Huntington, Logan, Morgantown, Parkersburg, Williamson and Wheeling.
